Penns Creek
Wild browns, Green Drakes, and the holy grail week in late May.
Penns Creek rises from a single huge limestone spring at Penns Cave in Centre County and runs roughly 60 miles east through Bald Eagle State Forest before joining the Susquehanna at Selinsgrove. The upper river is a limestone-influenced, freestone-character stream that holds one of the largest wild brown trout populations in the eastern United States.
It is the Green Drake river. The Ephemera guttulata hatch in late May and early June draws anglers from across the country and is genuinely one of the great mayfly events in North American fly fishing.
