North Platte River
The Miracle Mile, the Grey Reef, and the biggest trout in Wyoming.
The North Platte enters Wyoming from Colorado and runs through a series of reservoirs — Seminoe, Pathfinder, Alcova, Gray Reef — before continuing east. The cold tailwater releases below each of these dams have produced some of the most consistently large trout in the Lower 48.
Three reaches are nationally famous. The 'Miracle Mile' is the short tailwater between Kortes Dam and Pathfinder Reservoir. 'Fremont Canyon' is the slot below Pathfinder. The 'Grey Reef' is the tailwater below Gray Reef Dam.
