Wisconsin

Driftless spring creeks 45 minutes from St. Paul.

Western Wisconsin holds the largest share of the Driftless Area's trout streams — thousands of stream-miles of limestone spring water across Pierce, Pepin, Buffalo, Trempealeau, and Vernon counties.

Wisconsin DNR's stream classification system (Class I, II, III) gives anglers a precise read on which streams hold self-sustaining wild trout populations — Class I — and which depend on stocking. The Driftless is full of Class I water.
