Mossy Creek
Virginia's limestone spring creek with trophy browns.
Mossy Creek flows through the limestone meadows of Augusta County, Virginia — a true cold-water spring creek in a state better known for freestone mountain streams. The trophy trout section is managed by Virginia DWR in cooperation with private landowners and runs for several miles through pasture and farmland.
The fishery is famous for big wild brown trout in small water. Tippet, presentation, and patience matter more than fly choice. Access is by permit through the Virginia DWR online system.
