Rush River

A larger Pierce County northern-Driftless river fed by numerous cold spring tributaries. It carries more water than the southern pasture creeks but runs on the same high-fertility, insect-rich limestone engine, with DNR easements and wild brown trout throughout.

Use WI DNR trout-stream maps to locate easement corridors and category regulations.

Heavier flows allow bigger rigs — streamers and double-nymph rigs both work.

Hex hatch in early summer on parts of the river is a notable event — verify timing locally.
